Practice Information

Disabled Access

Our modern premises are fully accessible to disabled people.

Violent or Abusive Patients

The surgery, like most NHS organisations, has a zero tolerance policy toward violence and abuse. Any patient who behaves inappropriately will immediately be removed from the practice’s patient list and the police will be informed.

Complaints

If you have complaints or concerns about the surgery or the service you have received please contact Caroline Harker, the practice manager, who will deal with them promptly. Scorton Medical Centre, like most NHS organisations, has an in-house complaints procedure in line with national guidance. A copy of this is available on request.

Resolving concerns and complaints locally remains our aim. However, if you remain dissatisfied you have the right to ask the Healthcare Commission to review your case. You can contact them on 020 7448 9200 or write to them at Healthcare Commission Complaints Team, Peter House, Oxford Street, Manchester, M1 5AN or visit their website.

Business Structure

The practice is run by the doctors working here, the partnership is known as Dr James and Partners and all the doctors are general partners.

NHS England require that the net earnings of doctors engaged in the practice is publicised, and the required disclosure is shown below.

However it should be noted that the prescribed method for calculating earnings is potentially misleading because it takes no account of how much time doctors spend working in the practice, and should not be used to form any judgement about GP earnings, nor to make any comparison with any other practice.

The average pay for GPs working in SCORTON MEDICAL PRACTICES in the last financial year was £81113 before tax and National Insurance. This is for 2 full time GPs, 1 part time GPs and 1 part time salaried GP who worked in the practice for more than 6 months.

Named GP

Every patient at the practice has been allocated a named GP in line with government guidance. This does not affect how you access the practice and you can still see whichever GP you wish.
